You sense a call. We walk with you to ordination.
Perhaps God has been stirring something in you: a desire to serve at the altar, to preach the Word, to care for people, or to carry Christ into your workplace. Yet you are not sure what the call means or where to begin. You do not have to discern alone. The Diocese of DOMA raises up deacons and priests who are fully sacramental, fully evangelical and fully charismatic, and clergy ordained in other traditions are welcome to explore reception.

A call to ordained ministry can feel both exciting and uncertain. We understand. Many of our clergy once asked the same questions you are asking today. That is why every applicant is heard, prayed for and accompanied by people who have walked this road.

Reviews each application, meets with you and recommends a path of discernment and formation.

Forms you through study, mentoring and practical ministry, shaped around your life and work.
FOUR PATHWAYS
Where might God be calling you?
Ordained ministry in DOMA follows the historic threefold order of bishops, priests and deacons. Every calling is tested with the Church and formed through study, prayer and mentoring.

Deacon in the meeting place
Serves the gathered Church: assisting at the Eucharist, proclaiming the Gospel, leading prayer, and overseeing mercy, hospitality and pastoral care within the congregation.

Deacon in the marketplace
Carries the ministry of Christ into business, healthcare, education, the trades and public service. A bridge between the altar and the places where you already live and work.

Priest (presbyter)
Preaches the Word, celebrates the sacraments and shepherds God’s people, whether in a congregation or a Micro Altar house church. Bi-vocational paths are welcome.

Clergy from other traditions
Ordained in another denomination? The Commission on Ministry reviews your ordination, theology and formation, and the Bishop may receive you into the Diocese of DOMA.

Glad agreement with the historic creeds and the Doctrinal Formulation of the Diocese of DOMA.

Four clear steps from calling to ordination
We hold to the historic threefold ministry of bishops, presbyters and deacons. Deacons serve the poor and assist at the Table. Priests preach, celebrate the sacraments and shepherd God’s people. Both are formed through DOMA Institute.

Study at DOMA Institute and grow through mentored ministry.

The Commission on Ministry recommends, and the Bishop ordains.

A call left untested can fade into restlessness and missed opportunity. A call that is tested, formed and affirmed becomes a lifetime of fruitful service: people reached, families strengthened, workplaces and neighbourhoods touched by the love of Christ.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a seminary degree to apply?
No. Formation is shaped around where you are. The Commission on Ministry recommends a path of study, mentoring and practical ministry through DOMA Institute.
I am ordained in another denomination. What happens?
Apply and tell us about your ordination and training. The Commission reviews your formation and theology and may recommend a period of study in Anglican worship and polity before the Bishop receives you.
Can I serve while keeping my job?
Yes. Many deacons and priests serve bi-vocationally. The marketplace diaconate is designed for people whose ministry happens at work.
What happens after I apply?
Your application goes to the Commission on Ministry. A member will contact you to arrange a first conversation, and discernment continues with your pastor and community.
